Or Shalom's Shabbat services reconnect us to the spirituality and joy at the heart of Judaism. They are rich with music, chanting, and contemplative silence.
Or Shalom offers four Shabbat services a month led by Rabbi Faryn or our own congregants. Please join us. All are welcome.

Friday, May 3rd 5:30p to 6:00p
Before our Shabbat service, join us at 5:30 pm for a Happy Half Hour at Noe Valley Ministry! Being together before services to enjoy a small treat or a glass of wine/juice is one of the ways we stay bound to each other as a Community. Our Shabbat Service will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 7:30 pm, to be followed by Kiddush and a vegetarian potluck dinner. Have a life cycle event or yahrzeit you want to honor, host a Happy Half Hour Oneg! If you have a bumper crop of strawberries, very ripe peaches that won’t keep, or if you make great Baba Ghanoush, host a Happy Half Hour Oneg. Other good items to bring for the Oneg are: a fresh fruit platter, assorted savory cookies, hummus and crackers, or a small cheese plate. A vegan option is always appreciated by many members. Join us for Shabbat services marking Yom Hashoah with R' Faryn and the ensemble, with special presentation from the Holocaust Descendants Chavurah about their families' stories. Beginning at 6:00 pm at Noe Valley Ministry. Before our Shabbat service, join us at 5:30 pm for a Happy Half Hour! Want to enjoy Shabbat dinner with your fellow Or Shalomers? Bring a vegetarian dish and reusable dishware for our post-service vegetarian potluck beginning at 7:30 pm. Masks strongly encouraged when not eating and drinking. -

A Welcome Shabbat is a short gathering composed of some songs like Shalom Aleichem and Lecha Dodi, candle lighting, healing blessings, the Mourners’ Kaddish, and Shabbat poetry. It gives attendees a chance to see one another and offer each other a Shabbat Shalom and to mark and welcome Shabbat. -
