4:00 PM - 6:00 PMOcean BeachCelebrate the second day of Rosh Hashanah at Ocean Beach with a spirited Tashlich ceremony. Gather for community singing, reflection, and the sounding of the shofar as we symbolically cast away the old year. Potluck dinner to follow at 5:00 pm.
Join Or Shalom for the second day of Rosh Hashanah at the edge of the Pacific. Together we will:
-
Tashlich & Shofar: Tashlich (literally “to cast off”) is a Rosh Hashanah ritual where we gather by living water to symbolically throw away the mistakes and burdens of the past year, opening ourselves to renewal. We will stand together on the shore, casting breadcrumbs or stones into the ocean. The sounding of the shofar will accompany this moment, awakening our hearts and spirits for the year ahead.
-
Optional Ocean Mikvah: Step into the waves for a ritual cleansing, marking renewal as the New Year begins.
-
Community Potluck: Share food and time together on the beach
Bring everything you need to feel comfortable for an evening at the shore — chairs, blankets, hoodies, food, and drinks to enjoy and share.
This gathering is free and open to all — members, friends, and neighbors.
We warmly welcome members, non-members, friends, and all who are curious to join us for the High Holy Days at Or Shalom.
This service is free and open to all—no ticket needed. Registration appreciated but not required.
