Join Kehilla Community Synagogue, Or Shalom Jewish Community, and Bay Area Jews for Justice (BAJJ) for a joyous, multi-generational celebration of Torah! We’ll begin by unrolling and holding in our hands the entire Torah scroll. While open, we’ll tour many of its special spots (great for kids!), and then read the very final verses of Torah, followed directly by its first. Once we’ve beheld Torah, we’ll move outside to dance with it!

Get ready for a rocking dance party with Kehilla's amazing Klezmer band, led by the indomitable Mike Perlmutter on clarinet and sax, featuring Diane Wirtschafter on vocals, and their epic 20+ member band.

Schedule:

• 5:30-6:30 Dinner – Food will be available for purchase, and you're welcome to bring your own! 

• 6:15-6:30 Optional Mourner’s Kaddish gathering (mask-required, in the Sanctuary)

• 6:30-7:30 Torah Unfurling & Reading (mask-required, in the Sanctuary)

• 7:30-9:30 Hakafot and Dance Party 

Please join us on time — Torah unfurling is a practice that, quite literally, requires us all.

Get on the Party Bus!

Or Shalom is organizing a 56-passenger party bus from San Francisco to Kehilla and back. Seats are limited, so advance registration is strongly required — we may not be able to guarantee you a seat without it.

• Pickup: The bus will arrive at 4:45 pm and we will leave promptly at 5:00 pm from Or Shalom (333 Cortland Ave, San Francisco)

• Return: Gather your belongings by 9:15 pm and leave promptly from Kehilla after the dance party at 9:30 pmm back to Or Shalom

• Cost: Seats on the bus are $18 each. Please contribute what you can — less if needed, more if you’d like to help cover others. Everyone is welcome.

If you take the bus with us, you are responsible for making sure you're on the bus at the time of departure. You must register with us using the form below and register separately with Kehilla for the event itself.

Volunteer Opportunities

Kehilla is looking for registration, food service and clean up volunteers. Please take a look at the sign up sheet to see if there is a time that could work for you. All volunteers will get free dinner!
