There is power in community: in hearing our blended voices in song, in offering our hands in service, and in being together in friendship. At Or Shalom, community is at the heart of everything we do. We come together to celebrate, learn, and support one another in grief and in joy. Whether we are welcoming Shabbat, organizing for justice, or simply sharing a meal, we create places to be together. This is the Community aspect of Or Shalom Jewish Community.

Through our Annual Fund campaign, we celebrate how community comes alive at Or Shalom through Ritual, Action, and Connection. These are the pillars that make Or Shalom special.

• Through Ritual we gather in song, learning, and celebration, from weekly Shabbatot to once-in-a-lifetime B’Mitzvot.

• Through Action we live our values by caring for others and working for justice, from our Tikkun Olam Circles to local community partnerships.

• Through Connection we nurture intergenerational friendships at our retreats, Happy Half-Hours, and our expanding Havurot to make deeper relationships around shared interests, experiences, or identities.

Each of these areas is sustained by the Annual Fund. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more that bring these pillars to life as we move through our Annual Fund season, which runs through December 31. Our goal is to raise $70,000 by year’s end to keep our community thriving.
