Tikkun Leil Shavuot

Tuesday, June 11, 2024 5 Sivan 5784

7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Next Day

Join Or Shalom Jewish Community, Ayin Press, and the Firehouse for an intimate Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a night of study, embodiment, song, movement, poetry, art, prayer, and cheesecake! We will have workshops* that are creative, experiential, and hands-on. We will have learning sessions that invoke the complex, knotted realm of ancient texts, and others that tackle the reality of the present. Bring a sleeping bag and pillow for mid-night naps!

What is Shavuot: Shavuot, one of the three primary harvest and pilgrimage festivals in the Jewish tradition, is a time when we remember the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. But, as our ancestors tell us, we were all there. We all received Torah.

What is a Tikkun Leil Shavuot: A Tikkun Leil Shavuot is an all-night study session where we relive the experience of receiving the Torah on Mount Sinai through staying up all night and studying Torah ourselves. For our Tikkun Leil Shavuot, we are defining Torah expansively, to include Jewish wisdom, in any form, through any medium—brought to us by various teachers and artists in our community.

We will provide cheesecake, lots of snacks, coffee, and tea, and bagels in the morning. Bring your own food to supplement if you will need more.
